We only stayed one night before our Safari, but we loved it. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the property is immaculate. Nice pool as well, and the restaurant is good. Highly recommend.

I loved everything about this place. I would like to start by commending Gayan, the host! He is probably the best and nicest host I've had in Sri Lanka. He sent me to the town FOC to get some of the best Sri Lankan food I've eaten, given me a free nature tour around the lake where we can see fruit bats and owls, arranged the safari at the most affordable rate I could find, had some of the most interesting conversations about plants, animals, Sri Lankan culture, etc. Everything in this place felt like a family home. We had tea at 4AM before the safari and was also welcomed back with a king coconut! The room was also amazingly clean, spacious, well decorated and came with an extra cooler fan because Tissa can get quite hot. I definitely recommend this place and would love to come back again!

This hotel was amazing. Nice and clean room with a pleasant smell. Very nice family. From the time we arrived till we left you feel so comfortable with them , make you feel like you are at home. A nice and fresh watermelon juice on arrival as a welcome drink .The food was delicious. They offer bicycles for free and let us use the washing machine.The organised safari was amazing. He also organised a tuktuk for us to take us to the bus stop to continue our next destination for Ella after morning safari. We recommend this accommodation.

We stayed as a couple at Saffron Lake Yala for 3 nights. The facilities were excellent - we stayed in one of the villas and it was spotlessly clean, with great finishings/facilities - spacious, comfortable bed, fan and A/C, hot water (not warm, hot!) and good pressure. There is no dining room area as such, food is served to you on the terrace of your villa or room. Staff, in particular the manager Roshan, were very friendly and helpful - arranging tuk tuks, travel advice, preparing food, hot drinks, etc. We also arranged our full-day safari to Yala National Park through the hotel (with a driver/guide called Ruwan @ Wild Angle Sri Lanka) - which was fantastic and again competitively priced. Location of the hotel was beautiful and peaceful, right on the lakeside, which you can wander along to birdwatch/see the sunset. Is not centrally located - is a long walk or 20min tuk tuk (1000LKR) from the centre of Tissa, but safari and taxi can pick up/drop off directly at the hotel.

This is the place that exceeds your expectations! All the reviews that you read is not too good to be true- it’s a real reflection from people that experienced the stay at the Elegant Lake House. From the first step you’re greeted by Randy and his exceptional service. The property is beautiful, surrounded by nature- perfect place to relax and disconnect. We definitely suggest to stay more than one night if you can, because we promise you won’t want to leave. Randy has a lot of knowledge to share about his village and nature and he gladly does it for his guests by showing around. The food that they prepare is delicious! The rooms are very well equipped, super clean and new. So, if you’re reading this review- don’t think any more and book your stay at Elegant Lake House. It’s a true example of hospitality! We’re grateful for Randy’s and his family’s dedication to provide the best time for us. Thank you!

Where do I even start? The owner was the nicest host we encountered in Sri Lanka. Forget about eating anywhere but at their house. They prepare the most delicious curry - best we had so far. They breakfast was really good and the portions are very large. The host also organized a safari to Yala park with a very experinced ranger. We even saw a Leopard and a tusker. The host proposed that we go to Kataragama with him for the festival. He arranged the best seats at the festival just for us - free of charge. We met some of the nicest people at the festival, they explained all the history during the festival and tried to please all of our expectations. The location of the house is also at the edge of a very beautiful lake. All in all, you will not be disapointed to book your stay here.

Great stay near Yalla National Park and a superb place to sleep. The room is huge, with AC and the location is beautiful. It is outside of town, but with your own transport nothing is too bad. The staff is the best with great support and nice people overall to talk too. We had dinner here too, which was amazing, and they helped us with our TukTuk lights and exchanged money for a fair rate. Breakfast was the best we had during our trip.

Great place! My friend and I stayed in this two room home - he was in the bottom room and I was in the top room so we had the whole place to ourselves! The rooms are huge, both with large outdoor space. Beds are comfortable, bathrooms are modern, and the property is beautiful. The host, Mithila, is super friendly and helpful. She booked us a well-priced safari at Yala and we were lucky enough to see a leopard! She also said she could order us food to eat at the place, but we decided to go out instead.

This was a lovely, peaceful stay. We received tea upon arrival and they helped us book a safari when we arrived. The room was clean and comfortable and the dinner was delicious. It was in a good location if you are doing the safari in Yala.
