Dambulla is an excellent base for exploring Kandy, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Sigiriya. We stayed there for 4 Nights and could cover the heritage sites easily. Dambulla Caves are a must-see and so is Sigiriya (just 16 Kms. away). I loved everything they have amazing vibe, nothing was to much trouble . All staff kind and helpful. Dambulla is quiet but has local shops, cafes Pizza Hut, great small restaurant a few miles from Evergreen serving very good food. It's run by the people who run Evergreen. So recommended by me.. We visited Dambulla with the tuktuk for free and we were taken to a viewpoint for the sunset close to the hotel. We went to Polonnaruwa and Sigiriya by tuktuk for 16k and even saw an elephant on the side of the road. Food was amazing as well, expecially the dhal! Perfectly located, we took the bus on the main road to Kandy (2 hours and 270 rupees/person). The swimming pool was the icing on the cake after a long day under the sun :)Guest review byVincentFrance

Close to a village, you can go for a nature walk. You can get local food all around in walking distance at the main road.
