We really enjoyed camping midway through our Japan trip! The campground is well set up and we had everything we needed to ensure a cozy stay. They provided sleeping bags in addition to regular bedding since it was a cold night (on top of heaters). They also have a lot of kitchen items for use which was fun to choose from! The addition of the deck and foot onsen during sunset was spectacular! The food that we arranged was great! We would stay here again.

This beautiful preserved building holds many stories and you can feel it when you sit in the still courtyard with a view of the misty mountains. Careful consideration has been put into curating the space to make it feel homey and calm. Fukuta Yasuhiro (the host) shared local wine and sake with us in the charming kitchen and we all gained more insight into the history of the Nakesendo trail. I wish we could have stayed longer. Kampei!

What really stands out, is the 5-star service by the receptionists. Actually even better than 5 stars, as there's none of the condescending glances one might get at 5-star hotels. :-D I'm especially grateful for the extra help I got from the bilingual Japanese receptionist. Despite hostel-style accommodation, I slept very well and found the bed to be comfy. The place is easy to reach on foot from Magome-juku bus stop, even with a large suitcase, as there's a pavement all the way.

The house is amazing, I was sad that I only spent one night there, it was a great experience to stay in a Japanese house, Assi was very friendly and welcoming, made me feel at home, helped me to get a restaurant as I arrived late, and gave suggestion for my breakfast next morning.I definitely recommend this place. This was a highlight of our trip around Japan. You get to stay in a beautiful traditional house and interact with welcoming local hosts. The house is surrounded by nature right next to a waterfall. There’s private onsen: one outdoor and indoor. You get to wear the traditional clothes: one for dinner, another one for sleep. Hosts serve amazing dinner!!!! The entire experience is one of a kind and definitely would love to come back next time!

What a nice ryokan! Bigger than expected. It even has an elevator! Beautiful interior and the room itself is so spacious and fully equipped. We did enjoy public bath, luckily we were the only visitors there, yay! Outdoor bath is absolutely incredible with a lovely view on the village! It is not that hot as the huge bath inside so I spent a lot of time open air. It was quiet and relaxing, I could see the moon and stars in the sky while sitting in the warm water - unforgettable experience. We had a great rest here, many-many thanks! A special hearty thank you to the Lady (I guess she is the owner) who welcomed us, she tried hard to help us find a place to eat, was very nice, kind and careful about everything so we could feel ourselves as much comfortable as possible.

It's a stellar place to rest after doing the Nakasendo Trail. The staff are beyond helpful and every part of the hotel experience speaks to peace and relaxation. You should try all the baths as they are all interesting in their own way. Word to the wise, maybe don't book the private mountain baths when the temperature is at 2 degrees and it's 10pm. You will freeze your butt off on the way up, not to mention walking there on wooden slippers feels like its own physical test. The kaiseki experience for dinner showcases the best of the local vegetation and it was fun to have craft alcohol as well. We only wish we could order more of what we wanted ala carte. I'd tell someone, even if you aren't doing the nakasendo trail, it will be fun to make your way to this hotel.
