It's close to Merano (which is much better known and visited), and also fairly touristy, but with the businesses aimed more at cultured tourists rather than mass tourism (not sure if there were any chain hotels there), interested in arts and finer dining. Relaxed atmosphere, small scale to give a nice familiar feeling to it. You can order fresh bread in the afternoon which is delivered next morning, amazing.
