The riverfront shops, multiple cuisines worth of restaurants, and other sights are well worth a wander through. I enjoyed the preserved bits of industrial history, as well as how that intersects with the Yeats trail. With the exception of the abbey, the town of Sligo isn't a particularly strong attraction. The surrounding countryside is another matter. Downpatrick Head, the town and beach of Mullaghmore, Keash Caves, Queen Maeve's Cairn, Union Rock, walks along the shores of Lough Gill, are all easily accessible by car from a base in the town and well worth a visit.Guest review byJohnCanada - 10.0

A lovely small town, right beside a very affluent river, and with lots of pubs and restaurants with old and new character. Locals are super friendly and their local food and beers are delicious! A bonus point is that one can relax and feel safe and socially included while travelling solo!! Uniquely situated above part of the river We had a nice view overlooking the river. Very comfortable bed and large room. . Happy and engaging staff. There are only a few car parks available out the front so you have to be a bit lucky to snag one. Parking is free up the same road about 150-200 metres away.
