FAQs about hotels in Budapest

A City of Two Halves

With a dome reminiscent of Brunelleschi’s "The Duomo" in Florence, the Hungarian parliament building is undoubtedly the icon of Budapest. It sits majestically by the Danube, the river that both divides and unifies the 2 parts of this capital city: Buda and Pest.

Overseeing Budapest from its vantage point on Castle Hill is Buda Castle. Spectacularly lit at night, it offers the best views across this attractive city steeped in World Heritage. Some unique points of interest are Heroes Square and the Museum of Terror, reminders of the city’s more turbulent past.

Much like in Vienna further up the Danube, coffee and cake is practically an institution in Budapest. And there’s nowhere better to try this than Gerbeaud - the elaborate décor alone makes this café well worth a visit.

To really feel like a local, make a trip to the thermal baths. The relaxed Gellért Baths are a triumph of Art Nouveau grandeur, while based on their sheer size, you can't miss the outdoor Széchenyi Baths. If unusual nightlife is your thing, the club nights at these baths are great fun.

With an impressive range of Budapest hotels, apartments and hostels on offer in this city of 2 halves, Booking.com makes your choice completely easy.

So much history so many things to see and do for all varieties of travelers, young and old. Definitely recommend a visit. My favourite was the thermal spa. Easy to get around with public transport buses, underground and trams also plenty of taxis

Budapest is a very nice city but the restaurants are really expensive. And the hygiene in the city is mediocre. Taxes are very high. The currency is sometimes challenging. And though it is very touristic capital, English is not used enough.

I really enjoyed the city area near the river.

I really enjoyed the city area near the river. I visited Budapest during a three-day business trip, and I had enough time in the evenings to explore the sights both with and without lights. I also appreciated the warm walks along the riverside, the boat tour, and the fantastic flavors. It felt friendly and quite clean to me, so I might return.

    Amazing city.

Amazing city. Loads to see and explore and easily accessible by foot or on local bus / tram. Fixed rate taxi for airport worked well and economical with 4 people. Everyone very welcoming. A huge variety of eating places and menus, majority very reasonable priced for a great quality meal. Prices are displayed in euros but better rate in local currency . Lots of restoration work happening in the city so keen to visit again when finished. Spa baths an experience and quite pricey and unfortunately the pool water didn’t appear too clean. Main roadways very busy with traffic but plenty of pedestrian crossings … make sure you only cross with the green man lit , traffic doesn’t stop otherwise! Explore but remember to look up … the architecture is awesome on all levels and make sure you wear comfy shoes !

Budapest is a fantastic city, charming, easy to get around, and full of character. You can plan a packed 3-day itinerary to cover the highlights, or take it slow and enjoy the city over a week. Most attractions are close to each other, and if you don’t mind walking, you can see a lot in just a couple of days. The cruises are worth trying, the weather is pleasant, the roads are clean, and the public transport is excellent. If you’re staying more than 3 days, it’s best to get a travel pass instead of buying single tickets. Public transport is well-connected and affordable, though taxis can feel pricey fine if you want comfort, but not essential. Personally, I loved every bit of the city and would happily return soon.

A lovely clean hotel. Room spacious, bathrobe and slippers were a great addition. Reception staff were very friendly. Breakfast was included, had plenty of choice. Hot dishes varied daily. Slightly away from the City Centre, but easy to walk into. If not as mobile then Uber works well. Would definitely recommend, if I go back to Budapest, then I'll have no hesitation in booking again.

Good place to crash for the night. Nice cosy little room even if it's not the most comfortable. Location while not in the city centre at least is on Metro line 3 and on a railway line to Budapest Nyugati and the East of Hungary and the 200E bus route to the airport. Also good clear instructions on checking in out of hours.
