Oia is stunning, especially at sunset, but in September it felt overrun with cruise ship crowds and influencers. We loved our simple apartment with its incredible views, starry nights, and the local cats and donkeys. Food and wine are excellent but expensive, and swimming isn’t easy without hiring a car or scooter. So beautiful and picturesque! Take lots of photos, you won’t regret it! Restaurants are a bit overpriced but there are plenty of other food options around. Oia is a romantic town with views that you will never forget. Ferries tend to arrive at similar times and with up to 5 cruise ships disembarking each day for day trips the town and roads leading to it can get incredibly busy. This was our second time in Oia, and we still love it. The first time, we were there on a day trip. This time, we stayed for a week. The views are stunning. It was less crowded than we expected. The hotel is a 5-minute drive from Oia. We only ate out for dinner. On the first night, we had dinner in our room (they have a menu from a nearby restaurant with various types of meals). On the following two nights, we went to Meze Meze (recommended by Sofia) and on the last night we went to KooKoo. Both restaurants were very good. We went on a catamaran tour (recommended and booked by Sofia). We took the tour to watch the sunset. We visited the island with ease as we had a car. We went wine tasting (again recommended by Sofia).
