Monemvasia is a lovely village built at the base of an island reachable by a bridge. There are two great spots to swim on the island side of the bridge, on of which is quite sheltered by rocks so we were able to take a dip although the wind and waves were strong. The town at the base of the cliffs and the old site at the top are both charming and worth a visit. We were only there for a night but I could have stayed longer.

Great little town with very friendly people. Amazing swim spots and great little spots for food.
Great history and very walkable.
Greek island vibes without the headache of ferries and flights. Gem of a place. Great spot to relax.

This place is amazing.
This place is amazing. Feels like you have just stepped back into Medieval times. We only stayed for one night - wish we had stayed for two. We got up at dawn and walked up to the castle ruins - this is a must do experience.

We stayed at Monemvasia Castle.
We stayed at Monemvasia Castle. For us it was great staying there, but persons with mobility issues it is not recommended, because the streets are narrow and made of stones. Our staying at the castle was an experience that we will never forget.

Monemvasia is a beautiful destination, where one feels...
Monemvasia is a beautiful destination, where one feels instantly relaxed and at peace. Besides the slight difficulty in finding parking outside of the castle and the small "hike" that might entail for the more unlucky ones, the scenery inside is absolutely worth it. Overall a charming destination, with a lot of history, lot's to see, great for a quick getaway or a short vacation.

So the place itself feels a little old and out-dated. With that being said, it served it's purpose. It was very very close to the Monemvasia medieval town and was very easy to access. The water in the showers was always nice and hot (which is hard to find in Greece), but the design of the bathroom is a bit odd haha. If you are just here for 1 or 2 nights i think it's perfect. If you plan to stay for a while and need a kitchen and such, it may not be the best.

Theophano Art Hotel is, in our opinion, a museum-like hotel filled with intricacies that reflects the spirit of Monemvasia. It is located in the most beautiful spot on the island. The hosts, Theophano and Hristo, are elegant, cultured, and hospitable. If we visit Monemvasia again, we would choose to stay here without a second thought. We also won't forget the delicious cake made by dear Theophano.

The architecture of this renovated hotel is beautiful and matches the style of the old city of Monemvasia.
The view is breath-taking.
Leoni, one of the staff members was extremely informative, helpful, and above all, she made feel being at home.
Breakfast was very good.

Staff were super helpful. The hotel is very well maintained. The room felt classy and had a large balcony with a great view of the main attraction in Monemvasia - the island.
