The hotel was in a good location within walking distance to the town of Windemere and Bowness-on-Windermere which had a lot more to offer than the actual town of Windermere. We found a great pub called The Brookside where we ate in the evenings for the short time we visited near to our hotel. which was a bonus.

    A lovely place to visit.

A lovely place to visit. Lots of good local shops, cafes and restaurants that were nearby. Buses 599 open top available to get to other places and train station with good connections if you don't want to drive. We enjoyed visiting Ambleside, Bowness, Coniston and Grasmere. We took a boat out on Windermere from Low Woods, the car ferry to Hawkeshead and the boat trip on Lake Coniston. A walk down to the lake directly from Windermere via Birthwaite Road leads you to two small jetties where people were swimming, paddle boarding and people watching. In Windermere, Home Ground Cafe is a great place for breakfast but be prepared to queue. Tillys bar did a good fish and chips. Cafe Italia for pizza etc.

Windermere is lovely and a perfect place to relax but also go on mini adventures. Lots of places to eat and do a little shopping. The treetop adventures was a lot of fun and look forward to going to the animal sanctuary next time.

Wonderful. The staff at Mountain Goat Windemere Tourist info are amazing and knowledgeable and helpful. Great info centre. Beautiful town. Regular bus service and train service makes it so easy for travellers. The walks and lakes and tarns are so fantastic. Loved it all. Best meal was at Lamplighter hotel. Excellent service and delicious food. Great to have a post office and supermarket in town.

I don’t think what I review in words would be enough to sum up Windermere and the Lake District it is the most beautifuly breathtaking place you could see , with its stunning views of the lake taking a boat trip to many other parts of the district , the walking up many fells it’s a hikers paradise , it has plenty of local transport that runs every day to get you around or you can use the ferry ,, plenty of places to eat and drink lots of local shops and businesses offering beautiful things to buy , our favourite place the aira force waterfall , you must take the bus the journey will be one of the most beautiful things you have ever seen , find the trails and walk them if you can especially the one from from grassmere to Ambleside it’s about 5 miles around the lake with a diffrent landscape every 10 minutes , good walking shoes a packed lunch and drink and of you go

Luxury Grand Hotel with a full historical background with an excellent value for money for this 4 Stars Hotel and Spa Resort owned by an English family for the last 70 years. Gymasium, swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and steam room are included in the price. Free mooring for the boat belongs to any of the hotel guests. The hotel also runs the Low Wood Bay Water Sports Centre with a private beach on the shore of the lake. Beautiful senary. Ample car parking. Two excellent fine dining restaurants. Everything is out of this world.
