I had a cocktail before dinner, the night of my arrival. They were having a "Negroni Festival" -- 6 different variations on the Negroni. I had the Bergamot Negroni and it was fabulous. I then had dinner at the hotel. I ordered the French onion soup and a fillet steak. The food was delicious and the service delightful.

Lots to do and see beautiful countryside. The Quay was lovely and well thought out. Shopping was reasonable and plenty of choice. Good bus links and open topped bus looked fun. We had family in Poole went to Greyhound Pub in country and had excellent Sunday lunch. The cowshed in Upton did excellent breakfast.

We liked Poole a great deal as we were there during a festival of the sea event there was lots going on, with music and special exhibitions. Very vibrant. Walking friendly and well sited for other attractions nearby. We went on 'Jurassic coast and steam train' package which had been given to us as a Christmas present.

As the largest natural harbour in Europe you might imagine Poole to be a watery paradise - unfortunately it's very built up and you don't get a sense of the location from most of the town. However it's in easy reach (via the Sandbanks chain ferry) of the beautiful nature reserve of Studland bay, the Victorian resort of Swanage and the Dorset (jurassic) coastline stretching to the west. Not to mention Brownsea Island in the harbour. Sandbanks beach is clean and unspoilt with lifeguards on hand - and if you have the energy you can walk along the beach to Bournemouth. The New Forest is a stone's throw away and public transport via bus from Poole to the coast and inland is exceptionally good and easy to navigate.

Location - hotel overlooks a glorious beach. First floor room was good although in effect it overlooked a car park - but Poole Harbour was beyond this. View was therefore good! Spacious room with settee and arm chairs. Breakfast was very satisfactory. Dinner on two nights: first night was mixed. I had pizza - no major complaint. My wife had lasagne - not good at all. Microwaved. Dessert was not particularly memorable. Our second night choice was really good - we had sea food risotto. And no dessert.

Lovely ensuite room, with a comfortable bed. I slept really well. The Bathroom had a bath with shower, so I was able to unwind in the bath after a windy and raining day. The hotel was perfect for what I wanted. I booked this hotel for just one night to see the fireworks on Poole Quay. So it was very convenient.

Stayed in most of the hotels in Poole and stumbled across the RNLI almost by accident. Booked it for the weekend and certainly wasn’t disappointed. Reception team were fantastic and made us feel really welcome and help my wife with an outfit malfunction. Will definitely be back.
