I’ve visited Chirk on many occasions for business and...
I’ve visited Chirk on many occasions for business and leisure. The village is quieter since the building of the bypass. One feature to see is the aqueduct. Nearby Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is famous but Chirk Aquaduct is impressive too. It runs alongside the railway viaduct over a deep valley. Disappointing. Don't be taken in.
Disappointing. Don't be taken in. It's not really a castle, its a stately home and not a very interesting one at that. Only part of the 'castle' can be viewed, what can be seen is not very interesting and poorly presented and not set in context. There were no information screens, very little signage and what information there was consisted of 'this is a painting of a person you've never heard of. This is another'. This was due to an unexpected problem, when my husband had to stay in the nearby orthopaedic hospital. I am an 81 year old lady and I was a bit nervous of.staying in a hotel alone. However, all of the staff I met at Moreton Hall were extremely kind and helpful. I had a lovely room, which was clean, comfortable and quiet. My breakfast the following morning was excellent.
