Small town, as a good base-location to walks to Mam tor (and back), the various Caverns (ticketed entry mostly), and the Cave Dale - a beautiful picturesque rocky trek with extremely steep slopes either side. The pubs were fine and some decent beer options. On the Sunday night of a Bank Holiday weekend my friends and I went for dinner. Five of the seven pubs/bars were not serving food. One pub was only serving pizza. One restaurant was fully booked. I couldn't believe it. There were a lot of people like us looking for somewhere to eat. Hope Cottage is a wonderful place to stay. The accommodation has everything and more that you need. The welcome basket in the kitchen was a lovely touch and much appreciated. Onsite parking is a bonus. Cottage is in reach of everything in Castleton.Guest review byMariaUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Castleton is a pretty village set amongst the High Peaks Lovely little shops and of course the famous caverns and blue John stone The jewellery shops have a range of lovely jewellery and other items made with the blue John incorporated in them Or you can buy crystals ranging from very small to impressive specimens so something to suit all budgets There are lovely walks if you’re into hiking or just potter round the village trying out the different tea shops and restaurants as you go All in all a great place to visitGuest review byJayneUnited Kingdom
