Brecon is a great little centre for walking with a nice atmosphere and plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants. We live an hours drive away but it is really nice to book for a weekend away and to explore the area, the weather isn’t always kind so staying in Brecon provides for alternatives if necessary.

    We absolutely love the cathedral!

We absolutely love the cathedral! The museum was well worth a visit too & we discovered we had relatives who had served in the Boar War. There are excellent easy strolls to be had along the canal paths and plenty of shops to browse through. You'll never be short of a coffee shop in Brecon, there are loads to choose from.

We received a warm and open welcome wherever we visited - and where we bought something we had excellent value for money (especially AJ's!). We enjoyed a walk along the Brecon and Monmouth Canal as well as a visit to the town.

YHA Brecon Beacons was a lovely base for our hiking trip.

YHA Brecon Beacons was a lovely base for our hiking trip. The location is peaceful and close to major trails, with clean rooms, a well-equipped kitchen, and helpful trail maps at reception. Both our pod and shared room were cosy with essentials like heating and plug points. The pricing was very reasonable for the comfort offered. The only issue was the strict 5–10 PM check-in window. Overall, a great and affordable stay!

It was the first and last time.

It was the first and last time. Litter outside everywhere, payments covered in fag ends. Normal for smokers ! Parking is poor.... hotel did not advise. Alcohol, drinking and swearing outside the hotel to 2am. The night porter could of rang the police but didnt.

Another wonderful stay at Brecon Beacons YHA. My mum and I stayed in one of the wooden pods which was super cosy, with comfy beds and lovely views. Food both nights was very tasty and affordable, and we enjoyed using the common area to sit by the fire and plan our walks for the next day, and play some rounds of scrabble! The staff were all really friendly and helpful, and the hostel is perfectly located for a range of beautiful walks that begin from the front door. Already looking forward to our next stay!

The property is located in a great spot in Brecon, ideal for easy access to restaurants, shops and pubs. It was very clean and had 3 great bedrooms, with an open plan ground floor with kitchen, table and sitting area. This was ideal for our two night stay for walking in the Brecon Beacons. There is no parking directly outside but there is free parking in a streets within a minute’s walk. We really appreciated the welcome of tea/coffee, milk and Welsh cakes. This was a nice touch.

Our stay was brilliant from start to finish. Elaine was a lovely host and welcomed us on arrival, we were shown to our room and were told what was in the town and where to walk. The B&B was beautifully decorated and extremely clean and the breakfast was amazing. The room itself was spacious, clean with a very comfortable bed, lovely en-suite bathroom and fantastic views of the Brecon Beacons

Very nice and peaceful location, did some hiking, seeing the horses and local town centres are not far. Plus Brecon National Park was not far. The cottage was nice and cosy, generally clean (a few spiders in the living room area, but you expect that living in the farm lands)
