Bradford is a city from the past, run down whilst attempting to be modern, too many tastes to please... Having said all that it is my CITY, I was born in a Bradford suburb went to school there and love it as the place of my birth and childhood. It used to be a proud City now it is a shadow of its former past. Why it can be considered as a 'City of culture' is beyond me... All its history and magnificence is compromised all its character has been replaced by extremist ideologies that DO NOT WORK in harmony and certainly are not on the same page. INCLUSIVITY intentions RESULTS IN EXCLUSIVITY in reality... Revisit history where you can, the Town hall is a very fine building, St Georges Hall and the Alhambra are steeped in history and grand days. The Midland Hotel and Great Victoria need returning to their splendid past, alas as with most things years of damage perhaps means that is impossible. No real reason to visit.

I love Bradford as a city but the town centre was like a Ghost town with empty shops and hardly anyone around. This year is the city of culture in Bradford.
This year is the city of culture in Bradford. Not having been back for many years I expected lots of change and I was'nt disappointed. Total culture change very sad in some ways and good in others. The town centre is a collection of gambling places hair salons and the high street favourite charity shops. However the new Kirkgate market on Darley Street has had some work done on it. My only thought on that is why so many empty listed buildings and still construct a new one. I am sure there are many reasons. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. I requested a room nearer to the lift as I had a few bags with me and didn’t want to be walking around the hotel with them all. Even though I knew it may not have been This request was granted which helped massively. I added breakfast to my stay and had it brought to my room. Location of apartment is excellent, shops nearby and everything centre of Bradford has to offer on your doorstep. Rooms are a decent size, 2 bathrooms useful and everything was tidy and stocked when we arrived. Like most places of this age it is showing some wear and tear but it is still classy, comfortable, the staff welcoming and helpful, the breakfast very good. Great value and location. Landed 20 mins ahead of time so went to drop bags off. Slightly wet due heavy downpour and cold from railway station to hotel. Very nice young girl was warm and welcoming - checked to see if a room was free to save coming back to check-in. Quick check in and room free where able to dry off. The room was mostly clean and comfortable. It looked like the shower room had been upgraded recently with a corner shower. We had a 2nd upgrade to a suite next door.
