FAQs about hotels in Bournemouth

Sea Air and Savoir-Faire

Known for its sandy beaches and good nightlife, Bournemouth is a popular seaside resort on the Dorset coast between Poole and Christchurch.

The town is centred on the Bourne River, running downhill towards the sea by Bournemouth Pier. This pier looks back towards a promenade lined with beach huts at the foot of grassy cliffs. The promenade continues west to Poole, while a road goes east to neighbouring Boscombe, where anglers often fish from its pier. Overlooking it is a clifftop road housing some Bournemouth hotels with sea views.

Booking.com also offers hotels near the BIC – Bournemouth International Centre in the West Cliff area. This convention centre and music venue is a short walk from the Art Deco Pavilion Theatre, located next to the Lower Gardens. In this popular city park is the Bournemouth Eye, a tethered hot air balloon that offers far-reaching views.

At the park’s top end the river disappears under a large square, then emerges in the Central Gardens. Overlooking these gardens is the Victorian town hall, which used to be one of several spa hotels in Bournemouth. Opposite is a Grade I-listed church, and St Peter’s Church has the grave of Mary Shelley, author of ‘Frankenstein’.

On the outskirts of town, near 4 golf courses and the Castlepoint Shopping Centre, is Bournemouth Airport.

We stayed in the main beach area in September and it was a perfect location, as I had my mum with me in her 70’s and the length of walk to the beach and the gradient were perfectly manageable for her. There were lots of restaurants and always something going on in the square. The beaches were so clean.

Bournemouth is a beautiful place to visit and we have been many time . Locals are really friendly and welcoming. We did how ever notice , there seem to be a lot more people sleep rough this year compared to previous years but they seemed to keep themselves to themselves and not bother anyone.

Stayed in bournemouth 20 years ago it was lovely. But what I've seen now is terrible the Gardens at night are full of rats . And homeless people on the streets begging for money. You just feel unsafe. So bournemouth is not for me

I was there for the Liberal Democrat conference, so saw less of Bournemouth and surrounding area than I'd like. It's a good place for a conference, with the conference hall near the beach. Relaxing to look at the sea when you need time out, and walk along the beach when you need a break.

So sad, Bournemouth has a beautiful beach front , I stay away from the decaying town centre. I only go to Bournemouth to visit old friends, I work there years ago and still remain friends with people I met there. That was I. The 70/80s it was a beautiful place back then. How sad it is now. There are very few decent hotels now, they are all tired and in need of repair. I have stayed in most of them now. The only place I’ve not stayed is the Nicci, I’ll try there next time, however I fear they are a little on the pricey side , the rooms look lovely, however the basic rooms are very tiny, I question where they get their prices from. Bournemouth is not a place I would come too if it wasn’t for my friends, this is coming from someone who has very fond memories and in the past loved it. It’s shameful what it has become! How could the council allow this to happen?? Where is your pride?

The location was amazing, a stones throw to the beach and the centre of Bournemouth and only a 10 cab journey from the train station. I loved that we could leave our things at the hotel whilst our room was getting so we could explore before hitting the beach. The room was spacious and clean and the large bed was very comfortable and plenty of towels and toiletries. The breakfast was great and fresh and every member of staff was super friendly. We loved that the rooms had a tower fan too and the windows actually opened so very well ventilated.

I like the hotel ,it has a regency charm and period character throughout. Our room was spacious and clean. We used the leisure facilities, which were lovely (although there is an additional charge of £5 pp to use them ) Some of the furnishings are dated in appearance but I don't think this detracted from our stay experience. The location on the Bournemouth beach front is superb and Sarvar (sorry if I've spelt your name wrong) and the rest of the staff were really helpful so all in all making for a very enjoyable overnight break.

Great atmosphere and surroundings. Good Hotel for Bournemouth which is now very run down as a town. I have been coming here on and off for 60 years. The food was good and the hotel clean and presentable. Service was good but not exceptional. It's a four star hotel at best. Pool area is nice with a lovely outdoor terrace. South Beach restaurant is fine. Not quite Miami but a cute idea.

The hotel is situated overlooking the sea , just a 2 minute walk along the cliff road from Bournemouth seafront. The hotel bar was perfect for meeting up with the large group of families we were staying with. A full English breakfast was available each morning. The rooms were clean and well equipped
