The area was so accessible fir walking and we enjoyed soaking up the ambience of the the area in and around our hotel .we ate locally generally.we are retirees who enjoy walking and loved the hop on hop off buses which enabled us to manoeuvre our way around the city whilst doing plenty of walking each day. Be aware that strikes happen at random.
Be aware that strikes happen at random. We cued for the Louvre for an hour on timed entry tickets and suddenly they said it was closed! Went later in the week with a guide who took us straight in to the Mona Lisa and left us free to wander around. Much better idea! Hop on hop off bus ideal way to get around. Beautiful architecture, excellent transport system , world class museums and art galleries , easy to get around , great bars and restaurants. This was such a great trip! We had visited the city about 15 years ago, but this time we found it was much more crowded. It's so beautiful and we will definitely go back, but the proliferation of social media influencers at all the major sites was a surprise and quite annoying. Well, its Paris! So many great museums, monuments, restaurants and things to do. We've been there on four separate occasions in the last few years, each time for at least four nights, and we still haven't managed to see everything. Paris is always busy, so to get the best experience, plan for the off season. Book ahead online for the major attractions and monuments. Many of them have their own apps that you can download and take with you.
