Located off the beaten track in the midst of vineyards, the Chartreuse de Mougères, a former Carthusian monastery, is now the home of young family of wine-growers, who also offer visitors' accommodation in a few adjoining rooms. All are spacious, tastefully and comfortably decorated and furnished. The hosts as well as other staff we met are very welcoming, and the "table d'hôtes" meal we had booked for the first evening was simply delicious. We would have loved to stay longer and will certainly return. The area is dotted with small towns and villages, nestling between the Languedoc's forests, rivers, vineyards, with plenty of interesting things to do, see, and discover.

An absolute gem in the heart of Caux. Isabelle was amazing and the attention to detail was insane. I’ve stayed in 5*hotels that haven’t had as much attention to detail as this place. A beautiful family run place and I will 100% stay again

    Caux is a mediaeval village/small town situated c30km from...

    Caux is a mediaeval village/small town situated c30km from Beziers and c70km from Montpellier in the south west of France. The older central part of the town dates variously from the 15th century. It is easily explored on foot through characterful narrow streets, leading up to the central church perched at the top of the town in its centre. The church's lighting at night is both modern and magnificent. The church's bells, which ring the hour on the hour throughout the day and night are less so! We visited in late September, resulting in the opening hours of the handful of town restaurants being unpredictable and not always as stated on websites or social media. Car parking in the centre of Caux is a bit of a lottery.
