A wonderful place to visit and digression from the...
A wonderful place to visit and digression from the traditional Camino Frances - well worth the effort and a delightful walk from Tricastel and from Samos to Sarria. Our accommodation near the monastery was perfectly placed and close to local restaurants. Its also well worth a vist around the monastery - though the musky smell (damp?) in the chapel was surprising and could easily be removed if they occasionally opened the West doors to improve air flows - I guess there aren't enough monks left there to undertake these tasks? - only 7 at present apparently, but they'd welcome new novices to bolster their number! ... Curious modern art in the cloister corridors that you'll encounter on your visit - helps if you can speak Spanish to understand the monk taking you around!Guest review byChrisUnited Kingdom
