This is a great area if you like a quiet village, nature, walking, hiking, biking, swimming in nearby lakes. My hotel, Alpenblick, was a perfect location for all of this. Having a car helps, but there are buses to most places in the area and train connections from nearby towns. One big hub is Steingaden from where you can get to most places. This area is a good place to slow down, relax, recuperate if you are living in a fast paced city and all that it entails. Nice village 10 minutes from the Ticketoffice for the castles (at the bottom of Neuschwanstein castle - starting point to discover the castle). While the price is high compared with the modern and new hotels in the cities, apparently it is moderate for the location of Foggersee. The room was standard in style and size for alpine/village family run establishments. The breakfast was good. The young man who serves as receptionist and waiter was very pleasant and does his best to be very helpful. The communication in English/German is limited.Guest review bySnicaCroatia
