Great town great beach.
Great town great beach. Good supermarkets and friendly people in general. We met some locals through some friends and we were made to feel at home quite quickly. Nice place. Go to the Burger Window, (Google it) its in an open bar which has a few other eating stalls as well. A great curry shack too. But the burgers at Burger Window really are SUPERB. The service is quite non committal. There are few smiles and you can get put off by that. But listen, the burgers are worth the grief. Also try the crepes both savory and sweet at the little Ahora Si shop and then try the big Ahora Si restaurant further up the street. Both owned by the same family. Both very good choices. Samara is a very cool, beachy surf village.
Samara is a very cool, beachy surf village. The locals are very friendly and welcoming. There are several gorgeous beaches in very close proximity. My favs were Samara and Carillo. Roots in an incredible bakery and there are many yummy restaurants to dine at. We loved Samara.
We loved Samara. It's a small town of only about 3,000 permanent residents. We LOVED the beach. It was perfect. It was clean and safe and peaceful and there isn't anybody walking up and down trying to sell you anything. The town is small but friendly and lovely; plenty of restaurants to check out, live music to hear, ice cream treats, great Sushi in town, grocery store, cheese & sausage store, etc. We went to Limey's twice for the great food and live music:) We could live here; we didn't want to leave:)Guest review byFarrellUnited States - 10.0
We like the beach at Samara because there is a reef...
We like the beach at Samara because there is a reef protecting the bay, so it is safe to swim for everyone in the family. The beach is clean and nice sand for walking. Samara is wonderful.
Samara is wonderful. It's a touristy beach town, but a very low-key one. The beach was never terribly crowded, the restaurants were never very crowded, and it was not full of obnoxious, loud partiers. Just a laid-back place full of friendly people.Guest review byAnonymousUnited States - 8.0
Very laid back small village.
Very laid back small village. Tourists were very chill during my month long stay. Food at sodas and restaurants was very tasty. Do not expect resort type accomodations. A true surfer would go elsewhere but I saw many people getting their first rides here. Everything is walkable. I attended Intercultura Spanish Immersion School for 4 weeks. Any request I had was immediately accommodated, Andre even got me some bug spray from Samara. They took me to the white sand beach, Rainer showed me the aloe vera when I had too much sun and even dropped me off for my next location. My room was beautiful, the best shower I've had in Costa Rica! The restaurant is very comfortable for hanging out, and the food is incredible. I can go on and on. Amazing hosts, thank you so much. Rooms all are comfortable and have air conditioning. Shower's great, mattress is great, pillows are great (these are always issues in Costa Rica). Having a small soaker pool on the property was a great way to spend our afternoon after we went dolphin watching. We spent 3 nights here and wished it could have been 5.
