The hotel is in a beautifully restored old art-deco building, right in the center of Kunming with the shops, restaurants and night market. The metro station is also withing walking distance. The green lake within walking distance as well. A special thumbs-up for Lingling, the manager, who does everything within her possibilities to assist her guests. She borrowed me a sim card the first day and went with me to the service centre of the provider to buy a sim card and stayed there in the queue with me until they actually installed the card in my phone. Thank you, Lingling, you are the best !

Overall my recent stay at Intercontinental Kuming is with absolute satisfactory. Especially I was very happy for the assistance by the Concierge te4am. Mr Smulin was very helpful to me such as buying new air tickets to other city of China and further amendments as well as arrangement for my airport transfer. He was always very active with quick responses, willing to help and did his best. If I was asked, I would give him and his concierge team at Intercontinental Kuming the full score 10 out of 10. The staff was fantastic. They anticipate our needs before we asked and they were most helpful, helping us to book didi. The hotel design was perfect for travellers. Well thought out design, having the sink separated from the bathroom. They also gave complimentary drinks and snacks from the mini bar. They supplied bottled water every time we went out. Location close to MRT, mini markets, eateries and bakeries.

The service staff from the door to the counter desk to be room service to the breakfast table are all impeccable and knowledgeable. Love the details inside of the hotel room. The room is spacious and with a very comfortable bed. But if you intend to add another bed, it might be quite challenging. It does come with a day bed near the window. Just request an extra pillow and blanket. This hotel is next to a big shopping mall with all the high-end shops.

    Super clean city, very quiet as everything is electric. We don’t speak Mandarin, but everyone really tried to help, translate to help The metro is spotlessly clean and really great. Try the ethnic village; old town etc, we were super surprised how nice it is We definitely back! Change cash as foreign card does not work, except the ATM.

    If headed to Kunming I would advise on seeing: - ethnic village - scenic stone forest - a couple of the parks Be advised they do not see many foreigners here so if you have young kids they will stop and take pictures of you.

    A really nice city, fun to explore, friendly people, vibrant streets, highly photogenic, easy to get around with its good Metro system. I was traveling alone, but ended up having nice conversations at dinner with locals almost every evening. The Stone Forest is remarkable.

    Kunming is an easy way to to get a feel for China-not too...

    Kunming is an easy way to to get a feel for China-not too big but still the buzz of an Asian city. One big bonus is the quiet roads as all the traffic is electric! The metro is very cheap and efficient and there is a good connection from the airport. Vibrant old town with food everywhere. Just be aware that they charge a fortune for beer.

    Very clean city, good whether. Free to walk around and people in Kunming are very friendly. Good quality street food at cheap prices with local and foreign beer available almost everywhere. Good places to explore. Many shops to buy clothes and accessories. Highly recommend to visit Kunming.

    stayed at ancient town, very convenient for food.

    stayed at ancient town, very convenient for food. But bear in mind cars not allowed in ancient town, accommodation send luggage carts. Communication in chinese important as they meet you somewhere at the entrance and bring you in with your luggages. No breakfast where I stayed but as early as 7am, shops for breakfast are opened. Need local sim card to get around by Didi. Need an app in english but couldn't get translation. Thankfully spouse could read chinese, did all the ride hailing and maps in chinese. If there was an app in English, would help non speaking/reading chinese. Suggest use a reputable tour company for private tours and plan everything if you can't use mandarin.

    it is a hostel, with dormitory multioccupancy rooms and lockers. I had a more conventional Hotel style room with ensuite. The internet seemed strong ( remember this is China and not all is available). So theres plenty of people to talk to, young and old, students and travellers. Good asian and western food, not Gourmet,and a good bar. The hours of operation take a bit of getting used to. Not that far from transport options and shopping. In a pocket of older city buildings. The staff are helpful and obliging.

    The hostel is fairly close to the airport. The staff was very kind to pick us up at 1 am when our flight arrived. We had business in Kunming so only stayed one night but wish we had time to stay longer and enjoy the lovely guest house and location. They will take you back to the airport from where it is easy to catch the subway or highway bus into Kunming. Above all, it is not a "box" hotel!
