We enjoyed our trip to João Pessoa, and the reason for being there was to run the João Pessoa Marathon. It was supposed to start at 4:30 AM, but they decided to start at 4:00 AM without any warning about the change. That was a kick on the shin because they had a set of rules, but they themselves don't observe them. Needless to say, I was very disappointed and disheartened. Yes, I did finish it! The two restaurants we liked the most were "Sapore D'Italia" and "Canoa Restaurant." The only two fun activities we had were walking on the beach and running the Marathon. It was enough for us. I was very positively impressed by the city. It is beautiful and, of course, the people are fantastic: helpful, smiling, talkative. I have been traveling to Joao Pessoa for work for over 2 years. I love it. There are lots of things to do and see. the beaches are great. I have never met a person that was not nice and friendly. Jampa has really beautiful beaches with clean, warm water. The beachfront has a long, lively promenade with lots of restaurants and bars. The Cabo Branco / Tambaú areas are safe and relatively calm. The historic center of João Pessoa is in a very poor state of repair and offers little to visitors except for the San Francisco cultural centre (housed in a former monastery and church).
