I have visited Sydney various times over the decades, and I never get tired of it. There are a variety of things to do, places to visit, and history to explore. The Art Gallery of NSW is always worth a visit, great permanent collection as well as fabulous special exhibitions such as "Dangerously Modern" - on currently. The Rocks is fascinating. Wendy Whiteley's Secret Garden is great, as is the view of Lavender Bay from there. I completed a "SheShapesHistory" walking tour - excellent. I completed a Rocks walking tour another time, and these are great ways to spend time with some like-minded or other curious people when travelling alone. I love Sydney.
I love Sydney. It always presents beautifully and makes you happy and proud to be there. I can remember being on a flight from a cold dreary Seoul in South Korea and arriving at Sydney airport on a beautiful blue sky spring day. The approach took us over the city with views of the Harbour Bridge as well as the Sydney Opera House and upon landing was topped off with a flock of Sulphur Crested Cockatoos flying by the aircraft as we taxied to the gate. Sydney has the most beautiful harbour in the world,the way the city lights up at night is breathtaking. Ferry rides are a must, and night-life always something to do and plenty of variety of different cultural foods to eat. Also, Darling harbour has so much to offer , whether it's a show at the icc , a ferry ride from kings wharf, our eat at 1 of the many restaurants, or have an ice cream or go on a harbour lunch or dinner cruise. We were on our way home from a cancelled trip in Europe due to illness. The staff at the hotel made it easy for us to change our previous booking and accommodate us at an earlier date. Fantastic breakfast. It is a bit far (20-30 mins walk) from Circular Quay or the CBD but there are plenty of taxis and you can walk through the nearby parks to those destinations.
