    Rutherglen is an interesting small town in the north east of Victoria and vineyard country. Many old and well maintained houses and commercial buildings. A pleasant main street with interesting shops and good coffee. A walking scale town and a great stop-over between Canberra and Melbourne, especially if you are not in a hurry and like to drive off the main roads.

    RUTHERGLEN IS IN THE HEART OF WINE COUNTRY, ESPECIALLY PORT, MUSCAT, SHIRAZ & DURIF. WHERE THERE IS WINE THERE IS GREAT FOOD. JONES WINERY HAS EXCELLENT FOOD AND WINE. ANDERSONS HAVE GREAT WINES INCLUDING SPARKLING.

    Rutherglen is a small country town surrounded by many wineries. There are three hotels which offer food and drink, plus a couple of restaurants & cafes. The folk are friendly and provide that good old country hospitality.

    Great food and coffee (lunch) at Caffeine Machine on the main street of Rutherglen, lovely little town with excellent wineries nearby. We had a fantastic evening meal at the Victoria Hotel which had recently been renovated and was more like a Five Star Restaurant than a run of the mill country pub, excellent food and wines there with very attentive staff. We didn't spend long enough in Rutherglen and looking to revisit in the near future and spend at least a long weekend.

    Rutherglen is a lovely old town with lots of cafes and shops to look at. It's close to other Victorian towns and close to Corowa across the border. Lots to see and do in the area. Focus is the wineries and restaurants in Rutherglen and surrounds.

    We spent 2 nights in Rutherglen and could have spent longer.

    We spent 2 nights in Rutherglen and could have spent longer. We took our bikes and rode the new bike loops that link Rutherglen and Corowa and link a number of the wineries. The bike paths are excellent - really diverse and a very good way to get around. We rode around 50km and visited 3 wineries (Pfiffer, Buller and Campbells) all of which were excellent. Best wine and cycling experience!!

    The Victoria Hotel has been beautifully renovated and is a lovely place to stay. The location is perfect - right in the middle of Rutherglen on Main St. The styling is tasteful and elegant, the beds and pillows so very comfortable, and all in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I will definitely stay there again.
