It was very comfortable and just beside the tram station. There were many cafes nearby. Also, when we checked out we left our Go Pro at the hotel, and we didn’t realise it until when we came to collect our luggage - the front desk manager at the reception handed it over to us. Thank you so much!

FAQs about hotels in Melbourne

Buzzy Jewel of Aussie Rules

A thoroughly liveable city, Melbourne has a buzzy vibe and an Aussie sense of fun. There’s always something going on, and one of its many festivals is Moomba – Australia’s largest free arts festival. Well worth a visit are the National Gallery of Victoria and the Melbourne Aquarium, whose highlight is walking through a clear tunnel as sharks swim over your head.

The city’s most recognisable landmark is Flinders Street Station, whose yellow and green façade matches the colour of the historic Melbourne trams that still run around the world’s longest tram network. Keep an eye out for the street art as you travel.

Shopping in Melbourne is fantastic. Queen Victoria Market is the largest open-air market south of the Equator, while the La Trobe Street shopping centre has over 300 stores. For food, don’t miss Little Italy - the Carlton area.

South of the Yarra River is St Kilda, home to the best beach and Albert Park, where the F1 Australian Grand Prix is held. However, this is not the city’s only sporting heritage. It’s also the home of Aussie Rules football and the MCG, a must-see for cricket fans.

Booking.com has a range of Melbourne accommodation from hotels to hostels and motels, some near Melbourne Airport.

Melbourne is a vibrant city, but it’s important to plan your trip carefully because many places are quite far from each other. If you’re not staying with a host, renting a car at the airport is highly recommended for convenience. Just make sure to bring your physical ID, as digital IDs are not accepted for rental. The weather in Melbourne is famously unpredictable, often changing several times in a day. Be prepared by dressing in layers and bringing clothing suitable for all kinds of conditions. With thoughtful planning and preparation, you can enjoy everything this dynamic city has to offer without the frustration.

I am from Melbourne and this was my return trip home for 30 years. While i was not in Melbourne for the city, but visited all my old haunts in the suburbs. Dined out at La Famiglia Restauraunt. Melbourne Museum- Southbank Promonade- Skydeck were great. Must admit the city is way more chaotic than the last time i was here, but beautiful none the less. It was a long time ago that i resided ion Melbourne.

WE have visited Melbourne many times.

WE have visited Melbourne many times. It is now a very busy city. We used the free tram to explore many sights around the city and it was easy to hop on and off to get to where we wanted to go. We ate in the Docklands and in the Spencer Street Outlet Centre. This is a great area for shopping if you are young. There was little on offer for seniors or for people who are a bit taller and a bit larger in size. The contrasting architecture is very interesting. There are small older building wedged in between the many skyscrapers and lovely old Arcades and shops are still in existence. There are so many different cultures here, all blended into a giant melting pot. It is worth visiting to watch the people!

Flinders backpackers was a fantastic vibe, for growth, be being able to thrive without the drama…overall I had 90% good and maybe 10% bad….this was due to 2 staff with there own agenda…being told I smoked inside a room when I DID NOT left a bad taste in my stay and to top it off even after I clearly said that it was untrue the Indian manager decided to then charge me for the extra night $150 all up out of pocket ….on a person who struggles as it is …your karma will be everything you deserve..:.to the rest of the staff and people I thank you For allowing me to feel a sense of normal again…my ch love…Dan

The Victoria Hotel is in a good location in the Melbourne CBD. Easy to walk to many attractions as well as close to the city circle tram. The reception staff were lovely & helpful. Unfortunately the rooms were not being cleaned until late afternoon & therefore we missed having the room cleaned a couple of times. The room was big enough for 4 people, unfortunately the bathroom was tiny. It made it hard to get ready. Overall the accommodation was okay, however nothing special.

Breakfast is always good here. Location is excellent if you catch the red skybus from the airport. leaving your bags before or after you check in/out is never a problem. From this hotel walking to anywhere in the CBD is pretty easy. Almost everything was fine except a prolonged internet "cut". The check in was fast and smily, the "special requests" were met. Travelodge Dockland is my "first choice" of hotel in Melbourne because of the perfect location allowing a smooth and easy transfer to/from the airport and basically walking distance to anywhere in the CBD!
