People are very helpful. A lot to discover between history and nature for those who loves walking and climbing. As an animal lover, I have rescued a dog and adopted him. Amazing town in the mountains with a lot of history worth a few days. The experience as enhanced by our stay at the Hotel SS Kekezi a unique family run hotel full of character and a fantastic breakfast. The owner was so helpful. Take a room in the part of town away from center (south side of fortress). For instance at hotel Bebey Traditional and walk to the center across the gallery that connect south part to center. Doing that you can appreciate the staying in a "real" part of the town.Guest review byFrancoM47Italy - 6.0
Castle was big, but we liked Berat's better.
Castle was big, but we liked Berat's better. Hills are brutal to climb. Cars going in opposite directions on the same street are often a problem. If you are not on the main streets, gps will tell you to make near impossible turns. Very nice, clean city.
Very nice, clean city. A lot of small traditional restaurants. Hotel Fantasy do not offer his parking but underground public parking ( 150 m distance) is available wich is better option in hot summer.Guest review byСтоянBulgaria

It's up on a hill right next to Gjirokaster castle. The view was spectacular and the breakfast on the hotel terrace abundant and delicious. The beds were super comfortable, the air conditioning worked well and during the night it was nice and quiet. It's a family run hotel and the hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. Everything about the place was perfect. The breakfast served on the patio terrace with stunning views of the surrounding countryside and mountains was fantastic. We ate our dinners also at the hotel and they were equally delicious! The owner will park your car at the bottom of the hill and also carried our suitcases down. The staff were very welcoming and even provided a drop to the market when they were going there. Amazing views from our Pasha room (we paid for an upgrade on check-in).
