This felt like less of a hotel stay and more of an experience as a whole. If you are exploring Nara I would recommend taking at least a day to just enjoy this hotel stay. We were greeted by extremely friendly staff who helped us with every little thing, from taking our luggage to ordering a taxi for our departure. We were served luxurious meals for dinner and breakfast in our room, by staff who set our table and made our bed. The location was magical with beautiful nature and deers roaming around outside. They had an amazing natural hot spring bath as well. Would warmly recommend this place.

Tsukihitei is located in the Kasugayama Primeval Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by the manager of the hotel and her assistant, and treated like kings throughout first showing us our rooms, and then when serving dinner in the private dinner room. If you like Kaiseki dinner, then you are in for a treat because the food is very good. They also offer vegetarian or Halal options which is excellent. The location is in the middle of a nice forest from where you can hike to the top and then get a nice view of Osaka, and it's an easy hike. We came a bit late to the hotel which unfortunately did not allow us to fully experience the Ryokan on the first day. If you come here, you can come early to Nara, leave your luggage in the lockers near the station (they are cheaper right outside than inside the station), and then walk around the deer park and to the temple (won't take more than 2 hours). Then have a meal, go to the Ryokan, take a walk around the forest, come back for a nice bath, then have your dinner, after which you can relax in your room. I feel this will give you the full experience.

One of the best experiences we've had on our trip to Japan. The house is located in the mountain with a limited access (only car) as it's on a toll road. Owners were extremely nice, sweet and helpful. They gave us a lot of tips and tricks for Nara (which we used) so we had even better experience. Very easy to communicate with owners, they text back very quickly and are very nice. The house is very well equipped, the fireplace is amazing, you can easily prepare a hotpot or grill some fish or steaks (owners have amazing equipment for both). The house is equipped with a traditional Japan style hottub which is a must try! The house was very nice and clean, enough space for everything, nice kitchen, living room and beautiful view. Bathroom was spacious and clean. Traditional bedrooms were very comfortable. We really enjoyed staying in this accommodation! Definitely worth it!

I stayed here with friends, and the small garden was beautiful, the house was clean comfortable, and full equipped. It was also close to Hasedera Temple, and easy to assess Muro-temple ,Omiwa shrine,so we really enjoyed Nara.

warmly greeted by friendly staff. little English communication but we could understand. Dinner was placed on the table before the allocated time and dishes continued to serve during meal. Truly felt pampered by the hotel. Breakfast was delicious too.

We loved everything about Ume. The beautiful setting, the design, the kindness of the staff and the most incredible meals. We had the smallest room and it was great; nicer than the photos suggest. Lovely amenities and small details in the room. But the reason to come is the food. We adored the dinner - a traditional Japanese multi course meal but very modern and clean and light. The Japanese breakfast was also divine. We would love to come back and stay in the biggest room next time.
