A hidden gem in Passikudah – absolutely recommended! The Dream Inn Guesthouse truly surprised us in the best possible way. From the moment we arrived, the host was incredibly attentive, warm, and welcoming. We stayed in the spacious garden villa, which offered more than enough room for the three of us—our 9-year-old son even had his own bed. The room was spotlessly clean, air-conditioned, and equipped with a top-quality mattress that gave us two very restful nights. One of the highlights was the semi-open bathroom, beautifully integrated into the natural surroundings—functional, charming, and impeccably clean. We especially loved the peaceful little garden terrace, which opened up into a lovingly maintained garden and offered the perfect spot to relax. The location is also ideal—just a short 2 to 5-minute walk from several stunning and quiet beaches. Breakfast was another highlight. We chose the local Sri Lankan option each morning and were blown away by how delicious and authentic it was. In summary: a friendly host, excellent comfort and cleanliness, beautiful natural surroundings, and amazing local food. We only stayed for two nights this time, but we will definitely come back—and stay longer next time! Highly recommended!

Very intimate and cozy, the room was pristine and the staff is amazing. The food is just too delicious. Namal was very kind to us and Umberto (the GM) such a pleasant acquaintance! We felt home. They were so nice to even add a bed for a friend who joined us last minute!

The eco-friendly Maalu Maalu Resort & Spa - Thema Collection sits on the sandy shores of Passekudah Bay on the east coast of Sri Lanka. We loved everything here. Very charming property by the beach with really beautiful furnitures and very comfortable. The staff is amazing, they are caring, they do everything for you to feel good and have the best experience. They spot every detail for you. The chef deserves a micheline star. The food experience was delicious. It is the perfect place to recharge. Thank you to the staff of kalkudah beach house for making this place a wonderful moment for us.

What's better about it, besides the lower price, is: More spacious, more modern room Fewer bugs (really hardly any) Larger, less smelly bathroom Much quieter setting. Instead of being in the middle of a bunch of other places, including a loud hostel next door, as Ubay was, this place is in a wide open, peaceful setting, the only close neighbor a church. Better breakfast at the same price - 1300 Free, filtered water A larger staff, very attentive, but unobtrusive, only there when you need them The two beaches nearby are quieter and less crowded Much thanks to Usha, the owner's wife, who speaks excellent English. She welcomed me graciously with fresh coconut water and gave me another one when I left.
