Every day was an adventure. Took 1 day boat trip to Amalfi Coast, a walking food tour that started at Piazza Bellini- great way to see city, line was too long for museum…longer than the building due to a free day, pizza, espresso, gelato repeat. I’ll be back Then off to Ischia for 10 days. Perfect balance
Naples exceeded my expectations. Quite a lot to see. Via Toledo and via Chiai nice to visit. Various coach and boat tours are available from Naples. Spend a day in Capri. Take a tour to Positano, Sorrento, Ravello and Amalfi. There are various tours which you can take from Naples.
Great place if you’re a foodie ..found soo many great restaurants. Every bite we ate was divine! Will be back for sure, but this time earlier. Many of the beaches were shut .. which was a shame. Great experience overall and glad we went to Herculaneum- an eye opener.
I was not prepared for this :\ City is very chaotic and overall feels unsafe for a parent traveling alone with a kid. Streets in city center are too claustrophobic, stinky and overcrowded. Whole city is filled with litter, homeless people and it is very ethnicly diverse. We've spend one night in the accommodation near the train station and decided to move to Chiaia which feels a bit safer. There was one park for kids, but it was closed and unaccssesable. Beach in Chiaia was clean enough and provided us with some nice memories and good time :) Trafiic is insane, people drive on red light, they ignore pedestrians, taxi drivers almost always use phones while driving. We've come for the Pompeii and Volcano and that experience delivered! It was an amazing day trip :)
Naples is a vibrant city with lots of places of interest. The food is excellent specially the Pizza Margherita + Limoncello and were well prized. Favorite place to visit was Capri and Ana Capri, the day tour + Blue Grotto + Private boat ride was the highlight for us. The hop on and off bus ride was a good way of familiarizing the layout of the city. Guided tour to Pompeii and Mt Vesuvius was also interesting and challenging. There are a lot of people so having someone guide you is the most convenient way of looking around places of interest. The place I did not enjoy visiting was the Amalfi coasts and Sorrento - too much traffic and too crowded and too pricy that it lost it's sparkle for me. I feel that the amount of tourist visiting there should be regulated as the roads and infrastructure is unable to cope .
Although it is crowded in the central areas, Naples makes seems as if you have stumbled into a party you did not know was taking place. We made sure to keep valuables in our front pockets, we never felt in danger. There are endless things to discover. We regret not going to the art museum in Via Toledo where a Caravaggio is an permanent display. We had planned to go after a visit to the Napoli Sotteranea, but were too tired to approach it. Naples is a little gritty, but the central, historic center goes back 2,500 years, and one must make allowances for the crowded condition. Food is out of the world, and I'd like to recommend a place called 'O Cuzzetiello for lunch on the go. Great value and so good. If you are a coffee drinker get ready for caffeine overload. Of course, you cannot have a bad pizza in this town. A pizza that pre-dates Colombus is pizza fritta, dough filled with ricotta and fried. No tomatoes. Enjoy.
