This hospitalario really did everything she could to accommodate and help me. After many places where you feel like a nuisance-pilgrim or a number, it was nice to have someone care. Also the perfect place to stay if you have an early flight out of santiago. She arranged a taxi for us. Very good service and a very neat albergue.

It was very accesible from the airport. When you have a car it is perfect! The house was clean, comfy and perfect for a few nights. There was a bar close with a friendly barman where you can take your coffee in the morning

Location and Transport

Located 8 miles (13 kilometres) from central Santiago de Compostela, in the town of Lavacolla, Santiago de Compostela Airport is northern Spain’s second-busiest airport. The best way to reach it is by the public bus service, which shuttles passengers between the airport and Plaza de Galicia in Santiago, making several stops along the way. The service departs every 30 minutes, 24 hours a day, and the journey takes roughly 30 minutes. The minimum taxi fare is EUR 22, with the trip taking around 25 minutes.

Nearby Hotels and Airport Facilities

There are several hotels within 5 miles (3 kilometres) of the airport, with most offering shuttle services. For many, Santiago de Compostela is the final destination on the famous Camino de Santiago pilgrimage – so the airport is often filled with walkers waiting to board their flight back home after a long and incredible journey.     Lavacolla is, I’m guessing, mainly used as a stop off before pilgrims continue their walk to Santiago. It’s also very close to the airport so useful for beginning and end of the Camino. The bar, A Concha, near the church and bandstand does good food!

    O Pedrouzo is a small town on the way to El Camino De Compostela. We only needed to stay one night and that was enough. I'm not sure if there were much to do in town. We tried two restaurants El Bule and Galaicos that serve traditional Galician food. Prices were fair and food was good.

    Very small town but great for the night before arriving to Santiago de Compostela (if you are doing Saint James Way pilgrimage. It is also very close to the airport so you can use it as your base to visit Santiago as well as to go to the airport.

    Pleasant and relaxing stop along the Camino trail (if one doesn't wish to stay in the major centers and towns). The hostel and hostel restaurant was relaxing and the food and drink was very good.

    The airport can be reached on foot or by bus. Pleasant if the flight leaves very early. A small bar and restaurant is nearby and also has an evening menu for 16 euros, large salad, fish with potatoes, a drink + a small dessert.

    O Pedrouzo was an easy place to stop along the Camino, with a lot of accommodations and restaurants. While the Camino does not run through the town, it is barely a 5 minute walk to enter the parts of town with accommodations.
