It is a new hotel. The hotel was ok - the room was big and clean. The manager came to town to pick us up as the adres was unknown to our navigation systems.
Friendly personel. You can use the kitchen and cook your meal.

Sometimes you come across something special during your travels. For us, that was with Kay in Maun. We stayed with Kay for almost a week. What we didn't know is that Kay also organizes various tours and safaris in the Okavango Delta. She does this in collaboration with the original inhabitants of the Delta. We made a Mokoro trip with two overnight stays in the Delta. What a great experience that was! The mokoro is the original means of transport in the Delta. We, in the Netherlands, would call it a kind of canoe that is propelled by a barge like you see in Giethoorn in the Netherlands. Even the Delta itself resembles Giethoorn in terms of vegetation. The big difference is the animals. During our walking and mokoro trips we saw many hippos, crocodiles, giraffes, wildebeest, different types of antelopes and many types of birds. Birds from very large (for example the fish eagle) to very small. Our guide, who lives in a village in the Delta, could tell us a lot about the different animals. Very educational. Then in the middle of nowhere in the evening together at the campfire, great. With the sounds of the hippos in the background. After this great experience back to Golentle Homestay from Kay. From there we made day tours with a rented car. Once back at Kay in the evening for dinner or a drink, always nice. Kay's location is super clean and there is even a small swimming pool. Cooling off at temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius was very pleasant. We could tell you much more about it, but it is best to experience it yourself. We can really recommend this location. Especially considering the prices that Kay charges. The safari tours with Kay are also much cheaper than with the big tour operators. In short, if someone has plans to go to Maun, go to Golentle Homestay.

Room was lovely and spacious overlooking the waterfront and had a great shower! Taxis were organised for us and very reliable. Staff were amazing, we had an issue with our trip to the okovango delta and the staff helped us rebook with another company last minute! Would definitely stay again!

Location was quite far away form most mall in silent lacoation. There was a really perfect manager who always took me to airport, city or for shopping by car, so location was not problem.

Great place! Spacious room with a warm shower, fridge, AC and comfy bed! The owner was very friendly as was all the staff. The food in the restaurant is delicious and fairly priced.
It is easy to take a taxi on the side of the road from the hotel to anywhere in Maun if you don’t have your own vehicle.
Highly recommend staying here.

We did not stay for long, but for stocking up the twon a good amount of shops and chain stores you may also know from South Africa. Unfortunately, the croc farms seems to have closed down, the local game park was closed for rehabilitation, and the museum was closed for the weekend.

For tourists going into the delta I recommend at least a day in Maun to check out the local sights and meet some of the locals.
Botswana and Maun in particular see tourists come in and go straight out to the delta, so no added benefit to the residents just a constant flow of people leaving nothing of benefit to the local community
Stop over in a local hotel, there are plenty to suit every ones finances, interact with the local community there is lots to do and see

When you see distance to town center for hotels in Maun, don't be deceived like I was. Town center is a ratty 4 way stop, nothing you want to be too close to. There are a few places in Maun that may be OK but you have to do your research and they are spread out.
