Opened in June 2018, Hotel 1001 Nott offers modern accommodation 5 km from Egilsstadir. The hotel features outdoor hot tubs overlooking Lake Lagarfljót. There is also an on-site bar. The hotel was really nice with modern and comfortable rooms. Breakfast was also superb. Staff was friendly and welcoming. We had a room with lake view that was really nice. We did a road trip to East end of the Iceland and this was perfect place to stay on the east side.

This hostel is located on Berunes farm by the Ring Road and is 45 km from the village of Djúpivogur. Guests have access to a fully equipped kitchen, and lounges. Free WiFi is available. The guesthouse was lovely, very warm and cozy and we loved the traditional style and decoration. Very clean and comfortable. We could cook dinner at the shared kitchen which was well equipped. We wish we could stay longer, I definitely suggest it to anyone.

Featuring a restaurant and cafe on site, Blabjorg Resort is in the fishing village of Borgarfjordur Eystri, 71 km from Egilsstadir. Beautiful private room with a balcony. Staff was super friendly. The adjacent spa is small, but intimate, offering hot pools, cold bath and three different types of saunas. Last but not least, the resort offers food and drinks at their restaurant (including beers from the local brewery). We loved our stay here!

Featuring river views, Hjartarstaðir Guesthouse offers accommodation with patio, around 37 km from Gufufoss. There is a private entrance at the bed and breakfast for the convenience of those who stay.... Amazing remote location, not far from the town Eglisstadir, the hosts were really helpful, it was clean and comfortable. We saw the Northern Lights that night at the guesthouse and it was really beautiful experience. I recommend this guesthouse for everyone who is traveling on the east side of Iceland.

Set in Skjöldólfsstaðir, Hotel Studlagil offers 3-star accommodation with a garden, a restaurant and a bar. The hotel features family rooms. At the hotel, all rooms come with a desk. What didn’t I like…the stay was wonderful at Hotel Studlagil. The staff person was friendly and even shared a lovely conversation with us in the evening. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend this hotel to anyone travelling in this area of Iceland!

The Bank Sleeping Guesthouse in Neskaupstaður features a garden and a shared lounge. This bed and breakfast offers free private parking and a shared kitchen. The room was amazing with very comfy beds. Nice interior in general, warm and welcoming. The baths were also amazing, clean and with lots of facilities. Overall it exceeded all our expectations, it was a very enjoyable stay!

A good location for a relaxing stay in Vopnafjörður, Ásbrandsstadir Cottages is a holiday home surrounded by views of the lake. Very good facilities, and a place with a beautiful view, luckily we also see the northern lights on that night. But the biggest highlight is the most receptive, helpful and welcoming hosts we've ever had on our travels. We had problems the next day regarding charging the electric car, and without their help we would not have been able to reach our next destination. They let us stay, providing the rooms that were empty on the day if we needed them and using the Wi-Fi and kitchen facilities. Furthermore, while we waited we were able to enjoy a small accordion show and a visit to the hosts' family museum.
